Online event hosted by Birkbeck College
The online workshop 'Mobilising Memory through Mixed Reality' aimed to practically and critically engage with key examples of virtual experiences that aim to mediate difficult subject matter such as histories of racism, war and the Holocaust (Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Mixed Reality) in order to reach a more informed understanding of the uses, potentials and limitations of innovative digital and immersive technologies.
The event was co-organised by Dr Silke Arnold-de Simine (Reader in the Department of Film, Media and Cultural Studies at Birkbeck, University of London) and Dr Diana Popescu (Associate Research Fellow at Pears Institute). The initiative is connected to the initiative 'Contested Histories, Challenging Memories: Immersive Encounters with the Past' (developed by BIRMAC in collaboration with the Pears Institute for the Study of Antisemitism).
