Homayoon Sarwari’s workshop, “Professional Photography and Visual Storytelling Workshop at AUCA,” was a four-day long capacity-building program to help students with photography skills such that they can freely express their opinions, thoughts, and ideas through photography and visual storytelling in social media. The workshop provided intensive fieldwork, practice with studio lights, camera equipment settings, and post-production such as photoshop and Luminar software. Lectures and exercises were held during the first three days of the workshop, while the final day was a field expedition where students used their new skills under different lighting conditions and with different equipment. At the end of the workshop, the students were divided into several groups with specific assignments related to different social problems including Afghan women, climates, and Kyrgyzstani landscapes.
