On March 30, 2024, International human rights lawyer, and founder of The Balasan Initiative for Human Rights, Adv. Dalia Qumsieh, guided students, staff and faculty on a legal tour in the areas most threatened by Israel’s annexation policies in Bethlehem, including Cremisan, Bir Onah and al-Makhrour regions. We learned about Israeli policies of land grab and annexation, showcased in the legal case history of the regions; about the interconnectivity between Israel’s military and its settler colonial apparatus in enabling land grab policies; and about how Palestinian landowners are fighting back. We visited the areas (from a safe vantage point) and had the opportunity to learn from landowners themselves about their efforts. The tour was situated in the wider context of land grabbing in Gaza and across the West Bank.
