This project was a research trip to Brazil to engage with feminist movements that advocate for sexual and reproductive rights. In Brazil, feminist movements have been adopting the language of human rights to articulate their demands and resist the advance of conservative forces, being central in the defense of the country’s democracy and promoting ideas of justice. Especially, sexual and reproductive rights are considered a contested field in Latin America that has been pushed to the front of feminist demands, which is manifested, for example, by the growth of the marea verde (green tide) with their agenda pro-abortion. The main goal of this project was to identify how the demands for sexual and reproductive rights are expressed by activists and advocates in their activities and practices, be it through art, advocacy, public demonstrations, manifestos, or litigation.
