I Cannot Decolonize My Body Lecture

Faculty-led
September 26, 2024 at 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM

For this talk, Tiara Roxanne introduced their work on the decolonial gesture as an embodied action toward decolonization. Participants engaged with Roxanne’s work in AI ethics, de/anticolonialism, and Indigenous Feminist theory, addressing how artistic praxis and methodologies engage the decolonial gesture. The following questions emerged in the process:

How do we encounter embodied experiences in digital territory, knowledge-making, and cosmological weaving when the body is already a site of border control, quantum-making, and ritual? What are potential embodied encounters and decolonial gestures that aim to dissolve the anesthetics of colonization off and online?

This event was a collaboration between Agata Lisiak’s course PT160 Transnational Feminism Is for Everybody and Clio Nicastro’s course LT168 Theories of the Body.
